Then I took on an international IT project which required me to go to London. I had to express my passport to get it in time, and flew first class through Iceland so I could have a larger seat on such a long flight. Here are some things I learned along the way:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Joke I heard which hit home as I speak only American English:<br>What do you call a person who speaks two languages?<br>Bilingual<br>What do you call a person who speaks three languages?<br>Trilingual<br>What do you call a person who speaks one language?<br>American.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">South Africa &#8211; The phrase &#8220;in the loop&#8221; means pregnant so when the CEO said on a conference call &#8220;Keep me in the loop&#8221; the rest of the team was a tad confused. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Before I went on my first trip to London I was one of those Americans who thought there was no need to travel outside the country when there was so much here I had yet to see.
